-NEWS - UPDATE JULY 24, 2010-
Working on a new front page layout, so forgive the mess. Hopefully we'll start to look more organized here in the next few weeks.
I'm currently wrapping up an internship with a non-profit called To Write Love On Her Arms. For now their is a hiatus on both art updates and online novels. Both with pick back up in October or November. But that doesn't mean things have halted on my end. I have some huge news to share when I return in August! Thank you all for your patience. Feel free to keep in touch via Twitter, or keep up with my journey through my blog!
With love and hope,
Liz

BLOG - Updated July 7, 2010
"Love isn't evident because of what you feel. It isn't defined by the warm and fuzzy. You want evidence of love? You'll find it in your choices. It's the decisions you make out of the sake of compassion. Love is a matter of will, not emotion. You're willing to put another person first. Their welfare becomes greater than your sacrifice. You will make the tough decisions, and you will do it with an open heart because you've invested in something that matters more than yourself." -Oliver Fitzpatrick from Rain*

One Little Love
Liz Carlton is a 22-year-old multi-talented artist whose dreams and aspirations led her to branch out on her own. Freelancing in journalism, photography and now illustration, she created "One Little Love" as the homefront of her pursuits.
The phrase "Little Love" came from a nickname given to Carlton. Described as an edgy, young woman with a soft-spoken voice, 'love' is a verb that embodies both her views and lifestyle. With a passion for music and movement, she uses her journalistic prowess with the intention of inspiring others to live life and move for things that matter.
However, along with journalism, photography and illustration, this website is also home to a fourth project of the ambitious artist. A collection of online fantasy novels can be found and read in the Gypsy's Lore section of this site. The storyline for these books began years ago when Carlton spent countless hours riding horses and volunteering at equestrian shows. Her interest in equines sparked the imaginative ventures of her 'horse-folk' in a world wrapped in romance, adventure and of course...gypsies.

Book 3: The Lost Child
Prince Jaycent Connor
STATS:
Age: 23 - Ethnicity: Nevahardan - Height: 6'2 - Hair Color: Dark brown - Eye Color: Silver blue
BACKGROUND:
Jaycent Connor is the face of the thriving kingdom of Nevaharday, but somewhere behind the regal mask lies a troubled spirit. After his parents fell victim to a deadly illness, the young royal was forced to fill his fathers shoes where he found himself trusting few and serving many. Burdened by the demands of a kingdom and a lack of solace, Jaycent seeks release through alcohol and apathy.
Milo Kasateno
Age: 21 - Ethnicity: Sarrokian - Height: 5'11 - Hair Color: Black - Eye Color: Amber
A foreigner to Nevaharday, Milo migrated with his mother from the southern city of Sarrokye when he was 14. A year later, a plague swept through the city and stole many lives, including those of a neighboring couple known as the Tensleys. Nurturing by nature, Milo's mother takes in the their orphaned daughter Levee who, over the years, would both enamor and frustrate Milo with her stubborn independence.
Sadi Connor
Age: 16 - Ethnicity: Nevahardan/Sarrokian - Height: 6'0 - Hair Color: Black - Eye Color: Gold
Sadi Connor is an exotic, young nomad of mixed descent who grew up on the tougher streets of Sarrokye. At sixteen, he traveled north to what remains of the northern city in search of a new life, but what he discovers there ends up being more than he bargained for.
Arelee Denicarli
Age: 22 - Ethnicity: Nevahardan/Sarrokian - Height: 5'0 - Hair Color: Black - Eye Color: Brown
Arelee Denicarli is the fiery young woman responsible for training the War Stallions in Nevaharday's royal calvary. Because of her father's ties as the palace's horse breeder and trainer, she was raised on royal grounds alongside Rayhan and Jaycent. She has always fancied the ever-polite General Mendeley, but the two seem to have a rather ambiguous, if not awkward, relationship.
Levee Tensley
Age: 19 - Ethnicity: Nevahardan - Height: 5'2 - Hair Color: Auburn - Eye Color: Green
Orphaned at the age of twelve, Levee Tensley possesses a high dose of independence and stubbornness that defies feminine propriety. Blessed with amazing riding skills, the peasant was hired by Arelee Denicarli with the intention of eventually training the War Stallions - a special breed of horse used by the Nevahardan Calvary.
Aside from her riding talent, Levee has a knack for sensing what lies behind the eyes of a stranger, but its an instinct that gets her into trouble when she crosses paths with a prince haunted by his own inner demons.
Rayhan Mendeley
Age: 29 - Ethnicity: Nevahardan - Height: 5'9 - Hair Color: Brown - Eye Color: Brown
With training in both Nevahardan and Elven warfare, General Mendeley is reknown for his deadly precision. Yet out of uniform, his spirit is a stark contrast to his battle-worn lifestyle. The warm-hearted, laid back gentleman is a hopeless romantic, especially when it comes to one particular maiden.
Patchi Tarro
Age: unknown - Ethnicity: Rahenyan - Height: 5'2 - Hair Color: Flaxen brown - Eye Color: Dark Brown
Patchi Tarro is an infamous gypsy and an ever-present thorn in Jaycent's side. Technically residing within Nevaharday's boundaries, he does not consider himself a citizen under Jaycent's reign. Instead he claims his own territory in the untamed woodlands to the north.
Although the diminutive leader may not look intimidating, he is a formidable threat to Jaycent's authority and ego.
Brason aka "Bry"
Age: unknown - Ethnicity: Rahenyan - Height: 5'5 - Hair Color: A dusty blond or brown - Eye Color: Greenish-Blue
Although he comes off as a quiet and forgettable face, Bry is actually Patchi's right hand man, serving as both a spy and advisor to the gypsy leader. There is little that goes on in Nevaharday that he doesn't know about.
Rain
Age: unknown - Ethnicity: Rahenyan - Height: 5'4 - Hair Color: White - Eye Color: Gray
Like most native gypsies, her name is descriptive and in this case refers to her stormy features. Despite her youthful face, Rain has stark white hair and grey eyes that accentuate her dangerous enchantment. She often tag teams with Bry by using her exotic appearance to charm or distract unsuspecting targets while her accomplice slips by unnoticed.
Rylee (Nicknamed Wily)
Age: 20 - Ethnicity: Rahenyan - Height: 5'7 - Hair Color: Dark brown - Eye Color: Violet and always lined in charcoal
Rylee is one of the younger gypsies in Patchi's band and dedicated to defending their borders. The young buck takes pride in his gypsy culture and looks down on 'outsiders'.
Diego
Age: about a century - Race: Unicorn - Height: 17 Hands - Coat Color: Solid Black - Eye Color: Silvery blue - Companion: Jaycent
Sired by Alpha mates Skalabur and Mirage, Diego is a blend of sheer strength and speed. His thundering gait, granite horn and bold blue eyes intimidate even the bravest soul, and appropriately so. He is fiercely independent and will fight anyone who attempts to show dominance over him.
Although loyal companions, his relationship with Prince Jaycent is a friendship rather than servitude.
Skalabur
Age: timeless - Race: Unicorn - Height: 18 Hands - Coat Color: Midnight Blue w/flaxen markings, mane and tail - Eye Color: Silver - Companion: Patchi
The oldest unicorn in existance, Skalabur is the embodiment of patience and wisdom. There are countless legends behind this great beast, the most famous being a tale that claims his tears once healed a dying prince. However, no one can ever get close enough to validate these myths. Skalabur is extremely elusive, and most of what the Rahenian people do know is handed down to them through gypsy lore.
Siabra
Age: 50 - Race: Unicorn - Height: 15 Hands - Coat Color: Dun w/black socks, muzzle, mane and tail - Eye Color: Brown - Companion: Rayhan
A youthful mare, Siabra was captured by pirates as a foal and eventually sold to Siren Mendeley for a large sum of money. Mistaking her muteness for a scam, the old general was going to dispose of the 'useless mare', but Rayhan begged to keep her. His display of compassion won the trust of the dun mare and the two grew to be companions.
Mirage
Age: three centuries - Race: Unicorn - Height: 16 Hands - Coat Color: Fluorescent white with glass-like hooves and horn - Eye Color: Indigo - Companion: None
If Skalabur is the essence of wisdom, Mirage is that of hope. The mare's every movement is silent, making her seem like a phantom or mirage, and she appears to those who are in desperate need of comfort or assurance.
